Something like the proposed chairlift for Mount Wellington in Hobart as detailed above is also needed for Warburton. The ideal location would be between Millgrove and Warburton where there is still plenty of parking available or it can be created. The distance for the cable car would be short. It would link the Warburton to Lilydale rail trail, The O'Shannassy aqueduct trail and the Warburton Mountain bike destination and in particular the Mount Donna Buang to Yarra river 1 k vertical drop.

Upper Yarra Dam potential catastrophic failure

So I managed to get quoted on the front page of the local paper this week with regards to they Upper Yarra Dam. The silence of the local MP Cindy McLeish has been deafening on this matter. It's not as if she has a lot to do being in opposition. As to the local councilor he doesn't even live on the Yarra River or have as people like to say "skin in the game" Then we have Melbourne Water. I still have evidence only 100 metres from the house of Melbourne Water infrastructure failure and it has happened multiple times at both Warburton and Millgrove when O'Shannassy Aqueduct catastrophically failed. My little creek has taken decades to recover from the damage caused along 700 metres of it by Melbourne Water when 3 fences were washed away when their mini tsumami came through. I simply don't trust the assurances of these people. Look at it this way millions of Australians purchased lotto tickets in the recent 50 million dollar draw yet their chances of winning were 1 in 45,000,000 and yet nobody got the right numbers so has jackpoted. This week people will buy millions of more tickets in the hope of the event occurring where they get the right numbers. Yet the chances of Upper Yarra Dam failing and killing an estimated 30 to 1,000 are considerably less and yet the State government, Melbourne Water and the Shire of Yarra Ranges are doing nothing about installing early warning devices. Why are these so called "safety repairs" taking almost as long to complete as the original dam took to construct ?

Is Upper Yarra Dam close to collapse? At the very least the state government should install a series of strobe lights and sirens from Reefton to Healesville just to be on the safe side.
